- Thank you for this site.
My partner thought she was buying a ticket or two on the Irish Lottery official site, and used her debit card. It was this site – next thing there was a payment out of her account for €28. She received an automated email saying that a further payment would soon be due. She emailed and got no reply; there was another €28 gone two weeks later, although she thought she had made a one-off payment. At this point she went to her bank and stopped the payments, which the bank said had been set up as a subscription. Her statement only identified these as debit card payments, not as a direct debit. Coincidentally, she did finally get an email from ILSLotto, saying they would stop her account. So, they seem to be operating, maybe, within the law, but conning folk in the process.
- I must have been mad to enter the Irish Lottery via irishlottery.net but I thought it was the official site. I am on Guaranteed Pension Credit so I need to be more careful. I did not realise it would just repeatedly take the stake from my card, and they certainly make it difficult to cancel the payments. I have emailed them twice and no reply so far. I can’t find a telephone number or address either – I am beginning to panic!!
- Look folks – the lack of communication is enough to say ‘stay away’. Then I started reading some of the comments by other people and almost fell off my chair when I read that one guy actually received his winning in cash by airmail. Seriously – nice he got his cash but who sends that kind of stuff in the mail!
